"Kids just wanna have fun!"

- Don Tanner

Trio of Mayhem! Love and Boyfriends!! is the name of the first episode in Elite Beat Agents, and is the sole mission in the game's first act.

Story[]

Babysitter Jane calls for the Agents' help after unexpectedly being forced to take care of several children on her off day, which she planned to spend with her boyfriend, Don Tanner, a star captain and receiver of her school's football team. The mission, set to the tune of "Walkie Talkie Man", plays out across four phases.

Phase one[]

The Agents come to Jane's house in a car. The first order of business for Jane is to help get Tommy asleep. If the Elite-O-Meter increases, Jane cheerfully cradles Tommy. If it decreases, the children get restless and difficult to control for Jane and Don. At the end of the phase, Jane discovers that Tommy needs to go and there aren't any diapers, so Don proceeds to take him to the bathroom, pretending that he is the ball and the toilet is the end zone. If the Elite-O-Meter was over half full, he succeeds in doing so. If not, Tommy pees on him.

Phase two[]

The lone girl among the children Jane must babysit suddenly exclaims that she's hungry. If the Elite-O-Meter increases, Jane effortlessly gives her donuts to keep her quiet. If it decreases, she angry demands more donuts. At the end of the phase, the girl remains hungry and Don comes up with an idea: pretending that she's a receiver and a hot dog is the ball, he would hurl the hotdog right into her mouth. If the Elite-O-Meter was over half full, he succeeds in doing so. If not, the hot dog hits her in the face and she angrily, though unrealistically, kicks Don over a goalpost.

Phase three[]

Another problem emerges: the other boy is skateboarding dangerously throughout the house. If the Elite-O-Meter increases, Jane manages to hitch a ride to try and slow him down. If it decreases, she ends up chasing him. At the end of the phase, the skateboarding boy rides off a bannister and Don seeks to catch him as if he were intercepting a ball. If the Elite-O-Meter was over half full, he succeeds in doing so. If not, the boy bounces off his face and knocks him down.

Final phase[]

Tommy ends up being restless again just after Don kept him quiet. If the Elite-O-Meter increases, Jane cheerfully cradles Tommy. If it decreases, the children get restless and difficult to control for Jane and Don.

Endings[]

  • Best Ending: If the player passed all of the first three phases, Jane and Don succeed in getting the kids under control. Then Jane offers Don a chance to go out with her. He cheerfully agrees and calls it a victory, having made good use of his football skills to save the day.
  • Normal Ending: If the player passed at least one phase and failed at least one phase before the final one, Jane and Don succeed in getting the kids under control. Then Jane offers Don a chance to go out with her, which he accepts.
  • Poor Ending: If the player failed all of the first three phases, Jane and Don succeed in getting the kids under control. Then Jane offers Don a chance to go out with her. Embarassed at how the babysitting went, Don instead plans to prepare for his next game, while offering Jane a chance to help him practice.
  • Mission Failure: If the player's Elite-O-Meter reached zero before the mission was completed, the kids prove too much for Don and Jane to handle. Don breaks up with Jane and leaves, unwilling to put up with whatever mayhem her job would bring.
